This frame shows a juvenile Peregrine falcon in a high-speed dive. These raptors are the undisputed kings of the sky attacking birds much larger than themselves, even a pelican! They have amazing control at high speed, never get bored of watching or photographing them.

I made this shot with the 1D-X Mark II and 600 IS II hand held. ISO 800. F/4 at 1/3200sec. Processed with DPP 4.4

This shot was almost impossible to get. The light was wrong. The Falcon was too fast. Attempt after Attempt. Then after twiddling the settings using a heavy crop and a little work in post.We arrived at this shot. The bird had a GPS transmitter attached so it could be located if lost.
